PRESIDENT'S SPECIAL INITIATIVES
Women Professors Program
Margibi University is committed to increasing the number of female instructors by encouraging women to become university professors. Currently, approximately 2% of faculty at the University are women. The University has developed a multi-faceted plan from undergraduate to PhD for this goal, including scholarship awards and mentorship initiatives to support career progression. By implementing the new strategies, the University hopes to create a more inclusive and supportive environment that will motivate and increase women representation in academia.
Vacation Bridge Program
Vacation Bridge Program is a one-month intensive university transition program designed for graduating 12th grade students. The program offers university life skills and knowledge on university learning. Vacation Bridge also provides participants with mentorship and academic advisement, and it teaches students how to build a strong network of support at the university, making friends, working with instructors, and more.
The Vacation Bridge program is donor-funded, so students will not have to pay to participate. However, admission is based on a competitive selection process. The Vacation Bridge program is managed by the Office of Academic Support Services, with support from Institutional Advancement. Students who successfully complete the program do not have to take the University’s admission and placement exam.
Kids University
Margibi University offers Kids University for young learners in the community. The program is managed by the Office of Student Activities. KU is our version of vacation program for children between the ages of 10-15 years (or grades 5 – 9). It is an enriching experience for children to expand their knowledge, learn new skills, and have an opportunity for exploration and discovery. Kids University offers the following activities:
• STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math): Basic science experiments in each of the STEM areas where children will have fun while boosting their critical thinking skills.
• Life Skills: These activities involve teamwork, where children learn how to work together and solve problems. Other activities involve basic financial literacy, foreign language, empathy, listening, visual memory, and other skills they can use daily.
• Performing Arts: The performing arts component of the program includes music, dance, and theater. These activities are designed to enhance children’s self-discipline, coordination, creativity, and expression skills
